First edition.

Carlo Matteucci (1811-1868), physicist and neurophysicist, was one of the pioneers of electrophysiology. Divided into two parts, the first is devoted to his electrophysiological research based on his experiments on frogs. The second part contains Paulo Savi’s important study of the electrical apparatus of the torpedo.

“The author’s researches on the action of electric current on the nervous and muscular system of animals” (Wheeler).
