Tchemerzine-Scheler, I, 858; Verlaque, p. 37.

First edition of Bossuet’s sixth and last eulogy delivered at Notre-Dame de Paris on 20 March 1687.

Louis de Bourbon (1621-1686), known as Le Grand Condé, cousin of Louis XIV, remained famous as much for his military victories as for his participation in the Fronde. This edition is decorated with a vignette bearing the coat of arms of the Prince de Condé on the title, as well as a fine vignette at the beginning of the text and a tail-piece. Inserted in this copy is a note with Louis de Bourbon’s autograph signature and dated 3 June 1661, inviting Monsieur De Lamothe (Moulins) to come and see him at Fontainebleau.

A fine copy.
