William Bolts (1739-1808) was a great Dutch merchant, “formerly a member of the Board of Revenue at Benares and Alderman of the Mayor’s Court at Calcutta” (see title).
His work recounts the exploitation and despoiling of Bengal by the British East India Company. His observations are a unique source for the study of British rule in Bengal.
A very fine copy, as issued.
