Gaston Tissandier describes his invention of an electric motor to power an airship. The motor consists of three separate parts:

1. A propeller with two helical blades

2. A Siemens dynamo-electric machine

3. A battery of light potassium dichromate batteries.

His study contains a detailed account of the operation of the apparatus and is illustrated with a technical drawing of the installation.
