Magnificent large paper copy bound by Simier in blue morocco Plates before the letter

Quérard, 7, 423 (gives a total of only 13 plates including the portrait, and indicates 1820-1821) ; Brunet, IV, 1080 (without collation for plates). Fléty, 162. Not in Vicaire.

Beautiful edition, printed by Didot l’Aîné for Lefèvre. It is illustrated with an engraved portrait after Prudhon and 13 plates after drawings by Gérard, Girodet, Moitte, Desenne, Taunay and Chaudet.

A rare copy on large wove paper with all the plates before the letter, which Brunet has already praised: “Edition printed on fine paper. There are copies on large wove paper, paltes before the letter: 50 to 60 fr., and more expensive with the etchings, and especially with a fine morocco binding”.

A magnificent copy on large paper, bound by Simier, known as Simier père, the first in the dynasty of 19th century Parisian bookbinders and the only one bearing the title ‘Relieur du Roi’.
